| the standard edition of this portfolio,
published in 1989 by editori del grifo, was signed & numbered by milo
manara and limited to 500 copies and it was a present by italian publishing tycoon raul
gardini to "il messaggero" (a newspaper he owned at the time) journalists,
stockholders and collaborators. the publisher
asked for several copies to give out to friends but the whole 500 copies run was sold-out
so he asked, and obtained, permission by mr.gardini to use the over-print for a personal
edition of 99 copies numbered in roman digits (I, II, III, IV...).
the portfolio advertised here is the publisher's edition and
contains thirteen 11x15" full-color plates on watercolor paper. the
first plate is signed in full and, like all the others, numbered in
pencil by manara, while the following ones are signed by manara with his initials and
numbered.
hard-back blue cloth outer-cover with flaps
and mini-print holds an inner color-printed soft-cover which actually contains the plates.
